Athena Data Centre acquires GDPR Direct to help clients manage their ongoing compliance of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)

Athena Data Centres based in Birmingham has acquired GDPR Direct to help clients with ongoing compliance of data and information. GDPR Direct’s portal helps companies comply with obligations in protecting data and provides an audit trail of their actions to meet the GDPR commitment. In addition the portal offers e-learning and online tests ensuring all employees in the business understands best practice. Athena Data Centres are dedicated to data, cloud and security and this helps further strengthen its commitment to its clients.

Andy Acton – CEO of GDPR Direct says, “Data and compliance go hand in hand, we are delighted to combine forces with Athena Data Centres. They are one of the leading data storage centres in the country, with state-of-the-art facilities and technical capabilities. In partnership we will be able to expand the growing list of clients who are currently benefiting from our systems and surrounding services”

Athena Data Centres is a leading facility for colocation and data storage and caters for all business sectors and sizes. As a fully independent provider, Athena manage their own facilities and were getting approached about GDPR obligations on a regular basis. They would refer clients to GDPR Direct as a relevant solution.

Having received some excellent feedback from clients that used the GDPR Direct portal, Athena decided that they needed to work even closer with the software solution to help clients understand and manage their commitment to GDPR. Companies and organisations with internal Data Protection Officers (DPO) but also external, virtual DPOs use the portal for their clients, which is testament to the high quality and value GDPR Direct offers. Athena Data Centres see this as a natural progression of its overall offering and build on their proposition.

Since the regulation came into force on 25th May this year, many companies recognise that it is an ongoing process to make sure their employees and business partners understand their obligations. The acquisition ensures clients and prospects of Athena Data Centres and GDPR Direct the very best in security and compliance. GDPR Direct will look to rebrand as Athena GDPR in the near future and further investment in the Athena Data Centre overall offering will give any growing business a stable partner to work with.
